Edith Cowan University and SMa Institute Graduation Celebration 2011
24 November 2011 - The Edith Cowan University and SMa Institute Graduation celebration witnessed close to 300 students graduating from varying educational programmes from certificate, diploma, bachelor to master degrees. Held at Raffles City Convention Centre, the celebration marked a milestone as this year saw one of the largest cohorts graduating from the SMa Institute and ECU partnership.
The welcome address was conducted by Mr Richard Soh, CEO of SMa Institute. He congratulated all graduates and urged them to embrace lifelong learning in order to remain competitive in today’s fast-changing market.
SMa Institute also introduced the Top Achiever Awards and SMa President’s Award in recognition of students’ outstanding academic results. Dr Moh Chong Tau, Deputy Chairman of SMa Institute, presented the Top Achiever awards to SMa graduates. The awards was sponsored by SMa corporate member – Fuji Xerox Singapore Pte Ltd,
The SMa President’s Award was given to the top graduate who has achieved the best academic results among the 2011 graduating cohort. This award was presented by Mr George Huang, President of SMa, to Mr Neo Wei Jek who graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration.
Professor Kerry Cox, Vice-Chancellor and President of ECU, in his address, inspired graduates with anecdotes and reinforced to all graduates to embrace life-long learning and a need for relevant application of knowledge and skills learned at the workplace. The celebration culminated with the charge from Vice-Chancellor Cox as parents, loved ones and guests celebrated the achievements of the graduates.
