PROJECT REACH: STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT
30 November 2011 - Project Reach 2011 is a student project which recurs twice a year and is spearheaded by students taking Murdoch University's Public Relations programme at SMa Institute of Higher Learning. Two weeks prior to the main Conference, the students held a Panel Discussion, which saw prominent figures from the government, non-government, commercial and media sectors giving their insights on the need for strategic engagement when harnessing new media as a communication tool.
The Panel Discussion was followed by a Conference which was successfully held at the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), with 15 student teams pitching for two key awards - Best Pitch Awards (Gold & Silver).
Running for the 5th time, 90 final year students worked with 11 partnering voluntary welfare organisations to advocate on issues spanning from women's rights to poverty. The main highlight was to demonstrate strategic engagement of New Media in their communication plans.
Two of the judges' favourite teams, Avalanche Communications and Hype Communications, impressed the judges with their series of inspiring initiatives and breakthrough strategies. Both teams were ultimately awarded with Best Pitch Gold and Silver Awards respectively.
SMa Institute congratulates all student teams for the team efforts and commitment!
