Objectives

The Master of Security Management offers practicing professionals with an internationally recognised course of study in the specialised field of Security Management. It is designed to meet the learning needs of professionals and security managers seeking to improve their skills and acquire an in-depth as well as broad knowledge in security risk and risk management, security principles, security technology and security management.
The course aims to equip the students with relevant knowledge and skills in security management and security technologies necessary for employment in such areas as: government security, private sector security, strategic facilities security, retail security, financial institutions security, corporate security, and major security organisations.
Programme Outline

The Master of Security Management emphasis on the function and management of security technology in the protection of personnel, information and assets, and is supported by appropriate studies in law and ethics. Graduates are well equipped for a career in the security industry.

The Master of Security Management consists of 10 units delivered over 20 months in a modular structure on a part-time basis to suit the schedule of busy professionals and comprises of 3 stages which offers students 3 qualifications upon the completion of the entire course:
STAGE 1 (8 months)
- SCY4101 Security and Risk Management, 15
- SCY4103 Physical Security, 15
- SCY4111 Intrusion Detection Systems, 15
- SCY4108 Building Management Systems, 15
On exit of the program at Stage 1 and successful completion of the unit set, the Graduate Certificate in Security Management will be awarded.
STAGE 2 (6 months)
Progression onto Stage 2 is subject to completion of Stage 1 with an average of greater than 60%
- SCY5111 Advanced Security Risk Management, 20
- SCY5112 Current Issues in Security, 20
- SCY5113 Advances in Security Technology, 20
On exit of the program at Stage 2 and successful completion of the unit set, the Graduate Diploma in Security Management will be awarded.
STAGE 3 (6 months)
Progression onto Stage 3 is subject to completion of Stage 2 with an average of greater than 60%
- SCY5104 Security Project Preparation 20
- SCY5201 Security Project 1, 20
- SCY5202 Security Project 2, 20
Programme Duration

This course can be completed in 20 months and is delivered in a modular structure of 1 unit every 2 months consisting of 24 to 32 hrs per unit.
Classes are conducted on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday by Faculty Professors flown in from overseas
Assessment Scheme

Each course is assessed by written assignments and an examination.
Entry Criteria

- Degree holders with 3 years of experience.
- Diploma holders with over 5 years of experience will be considered on a Case to Case basis subjected to University's approval
Application Procedure

Interested applicants are required to submit the following:
- Duly-completed application form that can be obtained from SMa School of Management or SMa web site
- Certified true copies of all education certificates and transcripts
- Application processing fee of S$20 (non-refundable)
* Reservations will not be entertained.
Withdrawal & Deferment

All notice of withdrawal must be in writing. A full refund of the course fees paid will be made if notice of withdrawal is received more than 60 days before course commencement. If notice of withdrawal is received between 60 to 30 days before course commencment, 75% of course fees paid will be refunded.
No refund will be made after the course has commenced. Course Fee paid will not be refunded in the event of deferment regardless of whether the request made is prior to commencement or after the commencement of the course.
Changes & Amendments

SMa reserves the right to make changes to the programme structure, admission requirements, course fee, examination rules and regulations, lecturers, date and venue of lectures.
