Introduction

 

The Exercise and Sports Science Degree is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge and sound practical skills in a variety of disciplines taught within the programme. The degree has specialised teaching and research facilities in the areas of Anatomy, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Motor Control, Psychology and Exercise of Sport, Rehabilitation, Skill Acquisition and Strength Conditioning.

This programme consists of sixteen (16) core units, six (6) minor units and two (2) elective units delivered in a modular structure to suit the schedule of busy professionals. Students may be granted advanced standings depending on the entry qualification(s).

* This unit is delivered online.
^ Student will be required to go on-campus for a period of two weeks.

 

Duration

 

Depending on entry qualification, the minimum duration of completion is two (2) years.

 

Entry Requirements

 

Applicants should possess one (1) of the following:

 

  • GCE ‘A’ level (minimum of five (5) points for entry)
  • Diploma from a recognised institution
  • Higher Nitec

 

Applicants with any other relevant qualifications or professional experience may also apply. Admission will be assessed by the university on a case-by-case basis.

 

Applicants will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of their competency in English subject to the University’s approval.

 

Assessment Method

 

Most units will be assessed by written assignment(s) and an examination.

Application Procedure

 

Edith Cowan University takes about three (3) weeks to process each application. Therefore, it is advisable for potential students to submit application at least six (6) weeks before the commencement of each intake. All applications must be submitted to SMa Institute of Higher Learning (SMa Institute) before the closing date. Each application package must contain the following items:

 

1) A duly completed application form affixed with one (1) passport-size photograph
2) Certified true copies of highest academic qualifications and relevant transcripts
3) Photocopy of NRIC (front and back)
4) Resume required for matured candidates
